William Kugelman's Chicago Fire Dept. Memorial Service
My grandpa, William L. Kugelman, was a retired Chicago Fire Department Battalion Chief, former President of the Firefighters Union Local 2, and was a proud father of my mom Elizabeth and my uncle John. My brothers Sean, Connor and sister Grace loved calling him "Papa." He joins his sister Sharon in heaven.
Chicago firefighter for 47 years. Chairman of the 1980 strike, founding the "Brotherhood of the Barrel" that earned better wages and safer equipment for all Chicago firemen. He later became Grand Knight of St. Florian Council 12-911 of Knights of Columbus and president of the Chicago Firefighters Museum.
It was so wonderful seeing the Chicago Fire Department honor him exactly the way he honored so many that came before him.
